Welcome to Reliant...

So Monday was an early start, OK (9 a.m.) maybe not so early haha. We started the morning off with a meeting where we met the team for LSSE a.k.a our bosses for the next 2 weeks. Between our Bosses and the other interns i think we are going to make a kick-ass team. The meeting just gave us a brief overview of Bowl Week and gave us a chance to officially introduce ourselves to everyone.  After the meeting we headed for a tour of the facility where we saw offices, and of course we saw the Field which was awesome.  Throughout the afternoon we did miscellaneous activities such as picking up a ping-pong table for the teams and packing bags for corporate suite buyers for the Texans.  Tomorrow we start preparations for team arrivals such as packing gift bags and what not seeing that they start to arrive in just 5 days. Not to mention today was sunny and in the 70's.  These next few days should be full of busy work so i look forward to it.

Welcome to H-Town

It took 7 hours of travel time but Sunday night i touched down in Houston. The first flight was super quick it only took about 45 mins. I enjoyed a comfy 2 hour layover at BWI Airport which is pretty awesome airport if you have a chance connect through there. I touched down in Houston about 6:20 CT, waited for luggage then it was off to the Holiday Inn. Thanks to my fellow intern Caroline(Shu) i was able to avoid the lovely taxi fees and gained an amazing tour of Houston. My hotel is located conveniently located next to my home for the next 2 weeks Reliant Stadium. Holy cow is this place massive just looking at it from the outside

Though this picture is a little dark its the view from my room...not too shabby. Of course after a long day of flying it was time to grab some grub. So after check in me and Shu did some more exploring the settled down for some Mexican at La Taqueria, then after dinner we went to Berripop for some Froyo.  After all that good stuff we went back to my hotel and met up with Brian another intern and we talked and learned more about each other. Monday will be the first day of the Internship with a meeting at 9am where we will learn more about our gig and what we will do for the next 2 weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to snap some pics of Reliant and whatever else we end up doing.

Bowl Game # 2: The Heart of Dallas Bowl

So my second opportunity comes the day after the MCCBOT. As you can see from the picture above I will also be volunteering/interning with the Heart of Dallas Bowl formally called the TicketCity Bowl. This lovely bowl pits the Purdue Boilermakers against the Oklahoma State Cowboys. From a recent email i received my  jobs i have been assigned thus far are Team Hospitality,Battle of the Bands, and Kid's Day Out. My Gameday duties so far include youth charities sideline coordinator pregame, postgame awards ceremony and suite level activities during the game. To be honest i have no idea what to expect when it comes to working this game it seems like it will be a lot of work but in the end the experience, connections and resume building is totally worth my troubles.

If you so incline to check it out: Jan 1: ESPNU, 12 p.m. ET, Cotton Bowl, Dallas

The Teams for the MCCBOT

So as you can see from the lovely picture above the MCCBOT chose to pit the Minnesota Golden Gophers vs Texas Tech Red Raiders. This should be an interesting game i just hope its not lop-sided but with college football you never know whos gonna show up at game time, the last time according to ESPN in the 2006 Insight bowl Minnesota blew a 31 point to lose in Overtime.

Wanna catch all the action? Here's how: Dec.28 ESPN, 9 p.m. ET, Reliant Stadium, Houston

Join me...

I am creating this blog to give you guys a behind the scenes look at what it takes to put on a College Football Bowl Game.  Lone Star Sports and Entertainment has selected me as one of five seasonal interns for the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas. I will be in Houston Texas at Reliant Stadium (Home of the NFL Houston Texans) for 2 weeks from December 17-28.  From what i learned my internship is pretty much a crash course in event management, and will be helping with all the final prep work for bowl week and game day itself.  I hope to be taking plenty of photos and videos for you guys to check out. From what I've researched online and watched on YouTube so far its going to be one awesome experience. So I hope you guys enjoy the journey with me as we go behind the scenes of the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas.
